House of the Virgin Mary, Ephesus, Turkey

A true Christian would appreciate the history and meaning to the House of the Virgin Mary in Ephesus, Turkey. While we are not of Christian belief, we  appreciated what our eyes were gazing upon.

The one moment that truly impacted our hearts with full meaning was the sight of the notes from people, tied on a tree and also  along a huge wall. Notes were written on tissue(!), notes were written on leaves, notes were written on tiny pieces of papers. As we browsed them, we saw that many of the notes were well wishes and prayers for loved ones, notes of people journey to see the House of the Virgin Mary.

I was hoping we would write down our deepest thoughts and wishes while we were here. I did. Shankar did not partake in this ritual. I wished and prayed for my family’s good health and well-being.
